World Bank

A multi-page print and digital report designed to visualize global efforts in disaster risk reduction and climate resilience.

World Bank Annual Report

Overview

The World Bank Annual Report highlights the work of the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), an initiative focused on building climate resilience and reducing disaster risk around the world. This multi-page report was produced for both print and digital distribution and required a clean, cohesive layout that could support complex, content-rich storytelling across a global audience.

Problem / Solution

The report needed to communicate technical, data-heavy content — including financial summaries, impact narratives, and regional statistics — in a format that was visually engaging, easy to navigate, and aligned with World Bank brand standards. Much of the content required translation into structured visual layouts without losing meaning or accessibility.

The publication was designed in Adobe InDesign using:

  • Clear typographic hierarchy to distinguish sections, captions, and body content

  • Custom maps, charts, and infographics to visually support complex data

  • Consistent page structure to improve readability across chapters

  • Visual storytelling techniques to bring attention to global impact highlights

  • Layouts optimized for both printed materials and downloadable digital PDFs

Design Considerations

Multi-page editorial layout: Created visually consistent spreads using grid systems, master pages, and paragraph styles

Data and mapping: Developed supporting visuals including country maps, program icons, and funding charts

Visual clarity: Used whitespace, alignment, and typography to reduce cognitive load and improve navigation through dense content

Brand and formatting alignment: Maintained adherence to World Bank branding while making space for rich visual content

Dual-purpose format: Designed for both printed distribution and screen-friendly digital use
