Mr. P’s Neighborhood Grill

A bold, welcoming menu for a new local favorite.

Mr. P’s Neighborhood Grill

Overview

To support the grand opening of Mr. P’s Neighborhood Grill in Roanoke, Virginia, a fresh and readable menu design was needed to match the restaurant’s friendly, casual atmosphere. The goal was to create a print-ready piece that felt elevated but approachable — something that could welcome guests and help them navigate the menu with ease.

Problem / Solution

Opening a new restaurant requires clarity in branding and communication. The original menu draft lacked hierarchy and visual rhythm, making it harder for patrons to quickly scan categories or prices.

The final design addressed these needs by:

  • Introducing a playful typographic system with clear headings and generous spacing

  • Using color-coded categories to break up content and guide the reader’s eye

  • Organizing the layout into digestible sections (starters, burgers, salads, drinks, etc.)

  • Maintaining legibility across all price points and dish descriptions

The result was a polished yet friendly menu that reflected Mr. P’s identity and served practical needs on launch day.

Design CONSIDERATIONS

Hierarchy through typography: Used size, weight, and spacing to define categories, prices, and descriptions clearly.

Print-optimized layout: Designed with print clarity in mind — clean margins, legible type, and structured alignment for folding or mounting.

Tone of voice alignment: Balanced a confident, bold header style with a clean serif body for warmth and approachability.

Brand consistency: Reinforced the local, neighborhood vibe with a clean logo lockup and subtle color palette.
